What is the Internet PhoneJack?
The Internet
PhoneJack is an audio card designed from the ground up, to improve the
quality and performance of Internet telephone applications. When properly
used the Internet PhoneJack will provide the user with the following improvements:
|
| |
-
Improved
Audio Quality The Internet PhoneJack improves quality by providing
full-duplex (two-way) communication eliminating acoustic echo through
advanced and easy to use echo cancellation and direct integration
to high quality microphone and speaker setups and telephones. The
Internet PhoneJack features a new higher-performance Digital Signal
Processor (DSP), and full Windows 95/98, Windows NT 4.0. The Internet
PhoneJack is H.323 audio compliant, and provides G.711, G.723.1, G.728,
G.729a and TrueSpeech audio compression in hardware. The Internet
PhoneJack requires a 486-66Mhz or faster computer with an available
ISA slot.
|
| |
-
Greater Ease of Use The Internet PhoneJack, combined with the Internet
SwitchBoard application, makes it easier to use by providing support
for a standard analog (POTS) telephone, touch-tone dialing, speed
dialing of Internet addresses, ringing the analog phone when Internet
calls arrive, and acting in full compliance with the Windows 95/98
plug-and-play and Windows NT standard for easy-to-use hardware installation.
|
| |
Improved PC Performance The Internet PhoneJack improves PC performance
by taking CPU-intensive tasks like audio compression and echo cancellation
away from the host CPU and performing these tasks on the Internet PhoneJack
DSP chip. These added performance improvements means that other PC applications
like video, spreadsheets, and networking will perform more smoothly during
Internet telephone calls.
